Nobody is ever going to agree with my choices for this blog. One man’s awesomeness is another person’s meh.
Today’s awesomeness is the first one that needed a long and hard internal debate. I know that more readers, will disagree or be a little mad at me for thinking of facebook as awesome. So, wait a minute… before the hate letters come in… and I agree… facebook might be more creepy than awesome most of the time. So, let me present my case as to why I am loving it at this moment in time.
Last month, as most of you regular readers know, I had a campaign on kickstarter. Thankfully it was successful, and the friends, family and even strangers who backed my campaign were amazing. But, I don’t think it would have happened without facebook (and to some smaller extent, twitter). I was able to get the word out, and keep up a minute by minute update through the social media site.
Just this week, I was researching Scandinavian artists for an upcoming project, and I decided to ”friend“ a few outstanding artists. Not knowing if they would respond or friend me back, I was very surprised that they did. In fact I’ve had many facebook conversations with a few since then. If not for facebook, how would this have happened?
Of course seeing photos of people that I love on facebook has always been the draw, but now is the icing on the cake for loving this social media site.
Knowing my past love-hate relationship with facebook, I may not be so kind next week, but for now, it is awesome.
